    Steep Shallow toolpath

When I go to use the Steep Shallow toolpath the path calculates both sides of the surface. What am I not doing correctly?

If your using Mastercam, I know you should creat a boundry where you only want your tool to machine

    Surfcam

    Hi

I am looking to do this in Surfcam. I did try a boundary but that did not work.
I do not have that file anymore but would like to know what to do if that problem comes up again.

You should try it with all the surfaces visible. Sometimes you have to turn the surface arrow on and put it on the side you wish to cut. I have never run into that on steep shallow, only on 3 axis cut.

It sounds like you are trying to cut just one surface, if that is the case use the "cut" function. The arrow determins side, start and cut direction, if you need to edit it use edit surface (side, direction, corner)

Are you picking individual surfaces? Make the entire model visible, pick all visible, and use a boundry. If you pick individual surfaces, it will calculate a toolpath ignoring invisible, or unselected geometry, and think you intend to cut both sides.

I will go back and look at that job again then. I was just picking certain surfaces. I forget if I pick a boundary or not. But I will try the whole model with boundary.

I ended up doing a Z level finish but there was a area I think the steep shallow would have done better.

    Thank You
