Hello all, I have an issue that's been bugging me with my postform.l, and I would be grateful for any help. I spend more time in the mill package and only use the lathe about 15% of the time, so maybe there's something really simple I am overlooking? I post to a Fanuc 0T (on a Clausing Storm CNC200A lathe), and I can't get G96 output for CSS. G[FeedType] outputs the correct G98 or G99 G[SpeedType] always outputs G97. I've tried everything I can think of, and I can't get a G96. Here are sections of my postform.l: Spindle 3 4 5 # Cw, ccw & stop m codes |

| Ya know, I noticed that about my post too but didn't really care since I too use the lathe post so little. But I figured out if you use inches per minute instead of inches per rev when programming, you get the G96. Some where in the post the codes are reversed.... |

| You also need an encoder on the spindle shaft, as well as the option par.. I have sent you a PM. Al.

| I did think of that, and I tried two things that didn't solve the issue: 1: I tried two identical operations, one with IPM and one with IPR. 2: I tried swapping the SpeedType G 96 97 to SpeedType G 97 96, and it still outputs G97. |

| Edit: I just tried posting to a Fanuc using both the "RPM" and "CSS" and I get G96 and G97 respectively. They are reversed but I do get both. Inches per rev or per minute made no dif. Last edited by ToyMaker94566; 08-09-2011 at 02:51 PM. |

| Ok, now that you made me look, I tweaked my post and now get G96 with "CSS" and G97 with "RPM".... I swapped the text in "SpeedType G 96 97" to "SpeedType G 97 96" Spindle 3 4 5 # Cw, ccw & stop m codes Coolant 8 9 7 # On, Off & Mist m codes SpeedType G 97 96 # CSS and RPM g codes FeedType G 99 98 # IPR & IPM g codes Dcomp 41 42 40 # Left, Right & Cancel m codes Thanks for bringing it up. |

When I swap those definitions in my post, it seems to only use the first digit such that: SpeedType G 97 96, outputs G97 for both CSS and RPM. SpeedType G 96 97, outputs G96 for both CSS and RPM. Any chance you'd be willing to share a copy of your post, and maybe a SURFCAM file that works correctly on your setup? This might go a long way toward troubleshooting my lack of G96. |

| I am pretty sure my issue is with SURFCAM, and its post processor (see my response to ToyMaker below regarding swapping G96 and G97 in my postform.l) |

On the other hand, what I have right now should work... I wish I could just let it go |

| I understand but here's a heads up. If you're off maintenance with velocity and go back on, you lose Velocity. The new version of Surfcam does not include Velocity, it is now a $1600 option.... ![]() I don't know why you're having post issues but I skipped Velocity 3 when I got back on maintenance. |
