Hi, I wonder if it's possible to notify someone who is logged onto the CNCzone that their logon is about to timeout. This would be useful if a time consuming reply to a post is in progress. Pushing the "send" button results in loss of the reply. Barring that: 1) Show the login time alloted for the session. 2) Be able to retrieve the reply by hitting the "back" button. I know I can copy and paste to the clipboard. I sometimes forget to do so because frequently I seem to stay logged in for hours, once in a while for only 5 minutes. Habit means I don't expect the 5 minute expiration time because it's infrequent. Mariss |

| Same here.. But I also check the 'remember me' or whatever it is when I login.... Normally I don't ever have to re-login. |

| I have a computer in my office at home and a computer at work. The one at home stays logged in with CNCzone for weeks sometimes. The one at work manages to stay logged in anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. I have never been able to figure this out. Both machines run XPpro SP2 and Mozilla. I hit "remember me" but that button has no effect. I hit it, I don't hit it. There is no perceptible difference either way. 5 minutes or weeks at the extremes. Mariss |

| Just guessing from an illiterate, but by chance is the computer at home a stand alone or is it on a network. Possibly you are getting an ip refresh at work on the network and if the one at home is standalone you'r not getting the refresh? I am not sure if lease times will make a difference.

| I've gotten into the habit copying every reply I make. 'specially usefull if you're making a complicated reply to a query that takes a bit of thought (time) whilst machining at the same time. Us blokes can't parallel process... only wimmin can do that. Incidentaly, other sites like http://www.cnczone.com/vb/index.php time you out after like 5 mins innactivity. 's no problem if you COPY everything you write. Takes 3 seconds. Just drag the mouse over the text, right click the purple text and COPY ![]() Don't take the mouse ball out of the mouse if doing this though..all the text will fall out of the mouse and into your coffee cup.

| If you're having a problem with the site dumping your log in info, look to the machine you're using. The login info is stored in a temporary file. If your system is removing them automatically in a specified interval of time that could cause the auto log out. I use IE7 on an XP system and the only time I have to re-login is after I dump my temp files. Some Virus and Security systems won't allow the browsers to write that information to the temp files, but this is normally capable of being overridden in the settings for the program. I could go into a long winded description of how to handle this in some of the browsers, but I won't subject any of you to my bantering any longer. Regards |
