    Verification of negative posters

CNCzone Admin, Why is it that posters of negative information on this forum have no requirement to verify the information before posting?

Some examples - Right now in the General business practises, member toby51 has titled his post " bad machine " , he goes on to say that his chinese machine is no good.

Several days ago a post was titled" Techno Lemon" in the cnc machining centre section.

Today i deleted all of my posts in the commercial wood router section in a thread titled" Excitech cnc Router purchase". This was due to a new member trying to discredit myself and the company that i purchased my machine from. He did this by sending PM`s to a very naive member who then posted bad comments (untrue ) about the company.

There must be a way to prevent posters with ill intentions from posting deceitful and most times untrue information.

What are your thoughts about this?

How do you check the content for accuracy of every post? There are almost 75,000 members here, and hundreds of posts every day. There are probably only a handful of "posters with ill intentions" out of those 75,000. I'd guess that we see maybe one "problem" thread a month. You can't trust everything you read on the internet, and most of the types of threads your talking about are very obvious to the majority reading them.

each and everyone of us has our own preferences and opinions on products , these things can become an open debate , and thats ok provided it is done in due respect to other posters , i think its good to see the experiences from both sides of the fence , it would most definitely affect my decision on making a purchase and has made a difference on many decisions in the past
sometimes it boils down to some like a ford some like a chev

If the post is outside of the allowed content or decorum click on the red caution triangle (top right of post window) and report it to the moderators so they can deal with it.

Darn....big dilema...what is truthful and what is not......

I believe downright attacks are dealt with.

If someone posts "with it is my experience....".....well who is to say that their experience is not as they describe.

Information and disinformation....seems to be the norm in business and politics......

Solution....take everything with a grain of salt....investigate....contact the complainer and the company......do a little footwork.....

    Dear rocket67,

IMVVHO, I think that most of us put on long trousers a few years ago, and are able to distinguish , for ourselves , dodgy posts from reliable ones.

This is, pretty much, an unregulated forum. Long may it remain so. I would not wish others to censor "information" for my "benefit".

    Best wishes,

    Martin

Everyone will have an opinion on thier experiences whethere good or bad. If someone post a question with regards to a particular product both sides of the fensce will have input.

its an internet forum, take anything said as you would being part of or listening to any other conversation...who's talking & does it make sense determines credibility assigned. for the downright ugly there are mods....thing is, most of the time when someone gets ugly and chooses the low road, its not the credibility of the attacked that suffers, its the attacker's. All of a sudden who's right or wrong on some silly point fades and what you notice is how people conduct themselves. That experience comes from other forums...this is a very gentlemanly group where one doesn't, at least i haven't, seen much nonsense

Thankyou for all of your replies

Happy to report that the member who was having trouble with his chinese machine is a long way towards identifying the problem thanks to a helpful member.
