    Suggestion to manage huge forum.

I have spent many years reading this forum, but in the last 12 months I have tapered off my time here because there is just too many threads to read, and a thread in the "New Posts" sorting, can make it to page 3 in just 3 hours. It is very hard to keep up.
While I am of the opinion, big is better, This forum has become mammoth, and not as easy to scan as it was when it was smaller.

I have a suggestion that might help.

In the top menu where it says " New Posts" we need a drop down so that we can find new posts for a section. Example. New posts for "artsoft forum", new posts for "wood router forum", etc

Instead of seeing a mixture of new posts for things that dont interest us all, we can only see a list of new posts thathave our individual interests.

I think this would help us sort a bit better according to our needs.

Maybe this option cant be easily done, but I am sure there would be a plugin from vbullitin that would enable this.

This is an area that shouldnt be ignored. I suspect a building can only be stacked a certain amount on its foundations b4 it will crumble.

As I can only check in from time to time - now almost half way home to US - is there an easy way to see which threads have images/pics/attachments - kinda' like using Google IMAGES tab?

I find the threads I've been to sorta easy to find - but so much good content is in the attachments we all add to posts - I'd use those to narrow my review and visit new threads and posts.

Anyhow - inspite of its size and number of daily posts, it's still my favorite - I check in every chance I get.
Oh yeah, Paul - Good On Ya Mate!

If you know of a hack to do what your asking please point me in the rigth direction. Between the google search link on th top of the page and the VB advanced , I would think that would be enough.

I agree with Ynneb, there's no chance I can read everyting.
I also think that there are too many subforum's, too many to manually scan and too many posts with the "new posts"-button.

I just read the new posts. Going in to the actual forums takes so long... I think my ISP discriminates against text, or it's the NSA screening all the packets slowing things down. I can watch streaming video while I'm streaming audio no problem, but a text page takes forever to load.

I stole this from someplace; is this what the zone is approaching:

    IF YOU SUCCEED, YOU FAIL.

This leads to a curious situation on the Internet, where any new service risks the usual failure if there is not enough traffic, but also risks failure if there is too much traffic. In a literal update of Yogi Berra's complaint about a former favorite hang-out, "Nobody goes there anymore. Its too crowded", .... We might dub this the 'Icarus Effect' - fly too high and you crash.

I guess this applies to the entire Internet than???? Check out my friends site almost 300,000 members and does about 2mil a year in sales. I guess he is going to fail like cnczone, his site is 5yrs old, cnczone is 4yrs old. Like a computer you have to learn how to get the info from all the usless info, that is how google makes their living.

Just another one of those truisms about the internet.

There is another one that is applicable, not just to the internet; "You can satisfy some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you cannot satisfy all of the people all of the time."

Again, I stole it, and mangled it.
