DIY CNC: Gallery for z-axis, y-axis etc designs

How about a gallery in the DIY CNC thread showing 'Unique' designs for subassemblies. eg Z-axis assemblies, y-axis assemblies, different transmision options, bearing designs etc.

Or something similar to help newbies(like myself) to quickly pick which various design options may be best suited to their project, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

The problem is if you want to avoid to reinvent wheels, you don't understand why they roll. But life is easy for me: if for example I don't understand a 4-stroke engine, it won't start. Period. Never. Sometimes it looks I can get things to work, without changing them, but by understanding. Of course it could also be paranoia setting in.

Am sure the inventer of the wheel didn't understand all the intricies of rolling resistance(As a cyclist I know a wider tyre gives less rolling resistance but a thinner tyre has the edge in aerodynamics when you start travelling at over 23mph. PS My best time for 10miles was 21:25, 25miles 57:23, 50miles 1:58:04)

Ok, your cycling is fast. But I can check that by knowing what a mile is and do a mental conversion. And of course being Dutch, helps in understanding about bicycles.

Thanks Carel. So OK I conceed rather than reinventing the wheel. I would like to copy great ideas to have a better mousetrap.

Moderator please note relevance: As for the times, they where done on a 'CNC' carbon bike that belonged to a former Tour de France prologue winner(yellow buttons on handelbars are connected to a small computer that sends a signal to the rear mech which contains a solenoid which is powered by a jockey wheel). Hows this for a better mousetrap?

Yep, I remember Chris Boardman. You own the bike now? As bikes are sensitive designs, I show another, Dutch champion 1985 and 10th in world championchip 80cc.
