I have a couple of motors. both are 23 size. Both have 4 wires Motor #1 3.5v /phase 1 amp /phase Minebea branded Motor #2 5.4v /phase 1.5 amp /phase Vexta Branded I am new at this. So I now trying to work out how they will preform and how hard I can drive them. This should then allow me to choose a suitable controller. |

| Are there no part # on the motors? At a guess these are fairly low torque i.e. typically 1 - 1.4Nm (141 - 200oz-in) as a 1A - 1.5A NEMA23 motor suggests an older design - most now are 2.1A or more. Being 4-wire means these are probably internally wired for bipolar series connection, so these are not going to be speed freaks... Without part numbers only some inspired guesswork is possible: Minebea make custom steppers so you may not find an exact match but their current catalog would suggest a 1A/3.5v (=3.5ohm winding) bipolar would be around 0.8Nm (110oz-in). Vexta don't currently offer a 4-wire motor rated at 1.5A, but the rough equivalent from an older catalog is 1.4Nm (200oz-in). Both of these are likely to be relatively high-inductance, 8-12mH/phase due to the series windings.

| Sorry for the long delay in responding Motor #1 3.5v /phase 1 amp /phase Minebea branded Part Number Mineba 23LM-K202-p2 I would like to know what voltage I should start playing with. I got these pretty cheap so am happy to use them to learn with before I biuld the router. I am also thinking of building "egg Bot" and these steppers should meet the challenge. |
