Simple questions for profi. The motor is 5.4A as specified on it. I am not sure if it's 5.4A per phase or total (2.7A per phase). It's bipolar (4 wires). I found datasheet on the internet but it's still unclear for me. Can I get all torque using L297 + 2 x L6203 for the motor? |

| It's 5.4 amps 1.24v PER PHASE. It's a difficult motor to drive, and L297 is totally unsuitable. You will need a bipolar chopper drive that can do 5.4A per phase. So you have the option of buying expensive drivers or buying new motors with more friendly specs. |

| RomanLini, Thanks for the answer. Can you specify why L297 is totaly unsuitable? Half/full step will be enought for me. L6203 can go up to 4A only. It will be less than 5.4A but I still would like to test motor perfomance at 4A per phase. What problems I could face? |

| I think using your L297 and L6203 at 4 amps will be unsuitable because; 1. you won't be running the motor at full power, you might only get 60% of its rated torque at 4 amps. 2. That is a low inductance motor which is really designed for microstepping driver. So running it in full or half steps will cause a lot of noise and resosnace instability etc. Low inductance motor tend move very fast and hard from one step to the next which causes a lot of ringing and energy loss, they are not good for full step and half step modes. You might be able to sell those motors to someone who has 5.4A microstepping drivers and then replace them with higher inductance motors like 3v 2A or v 3A etc, or you could buy some Gecko drivers to use with the 5.4A motors. |

I like motors from Slo-syn. I will buy profesional drives for the motor. |
