    current, decay setting question...

Can anybody tell me the difference between slow mid and fast decay and how it affect the speed and torque of the steppers?

Are there any characteristics diagrams on the web which show how the voltage, current, decay, speed and torque influence each other?

Will it be possible to adjust the decay while stepper is running in order to find the smoothest option?

And will I get a better speed if I reduce the micro step setting from 8 to 4? I have understood that this will decrease the holding torque, but I don´t think I need that much in a router where I mostly work with softer materials.

    I don't think so.
Most driver ICs will read the setting after .reset.
Very likely it will simply have no effect.

Very likely not as 1/4 and 1/8 are not much apart torque wise.

I had some better speed effect when going from 1/4 back to 1/2.
This might be due to the higher peak torque.
But it was much more noisy then.
