What can i use them for?

    Hi All

I am new to this game and probably like a lot of people have jumped in feet first. I have been looking at everything and anything. I am going down the open source route having being an Ubunto user. My aim is to have a working machine typically on a limited budget (diy store supplies). At hand i have six motors sourced from an old military antennae tuner and a couple of plotters. they are listed as

    2 x Berger Lahr - Synchon - 4 wire, Motor RSM 50/8, 375 U/min, 220v 50Hz C=0,15uF
    1 x Superior Electric - 8 wire, M061-FD-6254, 44oz.in, 200 steps 11v, 0.4Amps
    1 x Rapid Syn - 8 wire, 23-6137v
    2 x Vexta - 6 wire,PXC43-02A-C1, 6v, 0.6Amps

My end product is to produce a bed at least 36" x 18" for cutting balsa, foam and light plastics, maybe PCB work. It will have a RotaZip as the cutter. What i need to know is are these motors usable or should i be looking at something else? What can you tell me about them? NOTE budget is the limiting factor to my quest.
    Many thanks
    Paul

I do not use steppers, so I cannot answer for them all, but the first on the list appears to be 220v AC synchronous steppers, these are intended to run off the mains voltage at the frequency of the supply.
This virtually rules them out for positioning use on a CNC.

    Thanks Al

This was my initial thought on those but not for sure. The problem with most projects, they always raise their ugly head when money is tight. I am sure i will have to cough up on some proper kit for the first one. I am was hoping to produce a small unit for the practice. I have light weight dremel type drill for the job and maybe knockout some PCB's with it.

Smile how (NOT)to fund your cnc project

First amd formost do not just go out and buy somthing becaus it looks right, i been caught like that.

    see www.cnc.me.uk

always have a plan, which is not alway possible especillay if your design is fluid rather like mine, almost 5 years in and still not finished, but drip by drip someday soon.
