Stepper motor too warm/hot to touch

    Hi,

Need to advice on stepper motors temperature.

I have 2 os22b nema23 size motors and a vs23b nema23 size motors driven my parker zeta drives. One of the os22b motor i use on the y-axis and the vs23b motor i use on the z-axis of the Taig mill gets warm while in stationary position and after some movement they get considerably hotter. They are kind of warm to touch. I am puzzled as the os22b motor on the x-axis is completely cold even after some operation.

How hot should the motor get? Wonder if this is normal or are the motor faulty or is some setting on the zeta drives that i need to adjust.

    Cheers

Steppers can get hot. It's been my experience that human touch is too sensitive to determine if they are running too hot. 160F isn't uncommon, but it depens on drives and other factors.
