    step driver 5A and step motor 6.4A

    Please advice i have scheme for 5A step driver but my motor is 6.4A will work in 5A driver and what will lost only torque or ?

    Thats the way I understand it. My motors have a slightly higher amp rating than the drivers and it doesn't seem to cause any problems.

    You'll lose about 22% of the torque running the motors at 5amps.

    I am interested for building a 5A driver bard for bipolar stepper. Do yuo have scheme available?

    the scheme i found here : http://www.todopic.com.ar/foros/index.php?topic=23274.0 but not yet tested since i have decide to build unipolar driver for my 6.4 A motors .Please let me know if you try what will happen .

    that uses L297 and I don't think it has pretty micro stepping like that of a gecko.
