Is this a Good Stepper Motor

Is the Pacific Scientific K31HXLJ-LXK-NS-00 a good stepper for a Gantry Style CNC wood router about 9 feet long 5 feet wide and the Z axe 12" tall ???
I am using a acme screw 1/2 inch with 8 turns per inch

    THanks

What are the motors specs. What Axis are you wanting to drive.. All?...

I assume your 1/2 inch Acme is for the y and/or Z... If not you may consider at least 1 inch or above for the X axis drive.

The size of the motor depends a lots on your setup. Ball screws, Linear bearings and the cutting you will be doing. For a large router I would think you'll need at least 800 oz.in for the X & Y and smaller for the Z.

Ideally, you'd want much higher amperage motors. Also, the higher inductance will limit your top speed. Those art 8.6V, you'd probably like to be in the 2V to 5V range. What kind of drivers are you using?

The 1/2" acme is not a good choice for much over 4ft. It's just not strong enough, and it will probably whip badly at any decent rpm. A much better choice for that size machine might be rack and pinion.
