I know I'm the only one (right!). But every now and then I do something really stupid like pressing the home key when the bit is parked against a fixture that's securely bolted to the table. My system's got plenty or torque and it always surprises me that it doesn't snap off the 1/4" spiral bit. I've broken them before but maybe I was already in motion. I don't remember. So I'm wondering if maybe there's some kind of internal safety clutch that saves the bit and/or the motor. It always makes me cringe because it makes a hell of a noise and I just know I've broken a gear lose or knocked my machine out of cal or something. www.ProjectCNC.wordpress.com |
