Have the option to buy some stepper motors (3) for $50 but unsure if they will be big enough for the task at hand. I am designing a router/plasma table either 8x4' or 10x5' (Haven't made up my mind yet). Will these motors be sufficient to run the x and y axis and if so through what reduction would I need to get the required torque? I am considering using a timing belt drive and pulley arrangement but not completely sure of its suitability (rigidity) for a router table. Motor details are as follows; Size - Nema 34 Type - 103-820-2 4.5 volt 1.4 amps 2 deg/step 8 wire for unipolar or bipolar operation Body approx 70mm long x 86mm Dia, Plain shaft extends 30mm from end, Shaft 3/8 inch dia. Any suggestions appreciated Thanks Mark! |

| Hi Mark, I am building plasma/router table same as you. My experience,I use 400 oz-in at 4' long and 1200 oz-in at 8' long for hybrid stepping motor. Everything is ok and smooth. You should hook up the motor with bipolar parallel . It should increase high torque if you use this method. Mongkol |
