I have had my machine running for 2 years. Recently the X axis stepper has started stalling while homing(20% of rapid speed). Otherwise the stepper works fine without losing steps at higher RPM. Any ideas what might be causing it? |

| One thing to look at is mid band resonance. Might also (if it's just one axis doing it) swap motors around and see if it follows the motor, or stays with the axis. Monte |

| Thanks for the advice Monte. My machine has slaved motors on the x axis. What I did do was match the jog speed to homing speed and it worked fine. I then undone one of the anti backlash assemblies from the gantry. Intrestingly when jogged at 20% the unattached assembly moved with gantry but when I homed or verified at 20% the unattached assembly moved faster than the gantry. Make sense? I think maybe a problem in MACH3 rather than the stepper? |
