Hi all I am quite new to all this. I have been reading lots of things on this site to find out where to start making my own cnc router. I would prefer to build my own drivers as I enjoy the electronic construction. My question is, why would I need microstepping. For routing wood and mdf accuracy of a few thou would be more than I need. With lead screw 1 to 2 mm pitch and couple hundred steps per rev, that seems to be great resolution to me. Is the advantage of microstepping, smoother operation with less harmonic problems?? or is there a reason that I am not picking up. Regards Don (domar) |
