retired toolmaker/cnc programmer

hi, this is my 1st post. looking for info on ASTROSYN steppers TYPE 23KM-K036-P5V. NO T3819-01. Would also like sugestions on diy drivers. I built a small desktop mill and is in the process of fitting these steppers and planning on using Mach 3 for hobby cncing. Any help and sugestions wil be apreciated. I am a electronics moron so keep it in mind please.

How many wires are the motors? Any other info on the nameplate?

They can be run either unipolar or bipolar, so it would depend on the current rating of the motors. You might see if any of this info helps make an educated guess at the coil currents: http://www.eminebea.com/content/html...pdf/23km_k.pdf

Thanx, it looks like 3amp 100oz motors, might be a litle on the small side. Dont have a choice ,redundant motor supply in South Africa is scares.which diy driver do you sugest.As i mentioned on another thread i am thinking of running 2 of these per axis.

Hi, have you found more information about this model? I have a couple of these step motor. I would like to know the motor current and what voltage I should use to drive these motors.

I couldn't find information for this particular stepper motor but I found some general information related to the 23km-k motors (hybrid motor).

Yo le mande un email al fabricante y me contesto que el motor esta fabricado para una marca y no pueden dar información sobre el.

Lo he usado a 5 voltios y pasa 1amp por fase, lo probé a 12 voltios y la corriente ya pasa los 2 amp. Creo lo recomendable sería darle unos 8 voltios, me falta probar esto. A 5 voltios el driver (L298) calienta bastante hay que tratar de enfriarlo.
