Nema 23 Or 34?

Ive Been Scanning Through Price Lists And Was Wondering Why I Would Pay More For A Nema 34 Motor Instead Of Just Buying A Nema 23 Motor With The Same Torque At Around 30.00 Dollars Cheaper Per Motor. Is It Because Of The Larger Diameter Shaft On The 34?
Someone Please Clarify. Thanks

Although the max torque might be equivalent, the torque curves for the two motors probably keeps the 34 ahead (steppers lose torque as they increase rpm, y'know). The 34 is probably overall sturdier as well.

only reason i can think of if you wanted more metal to work with . and the 34 should help a little with heat. be little stronger.

But no real reason. other then "supply and demand"

*edit*
Chagrin is right you should check both motors torque curves amps volts ect

Is the nema 34 a stepper or a servo, we'll need to move this thread either to the servo or stepper motor forum.
I'll do it as soon as you guys let me know which one....

Thanks Everyone, I Didn't Think About The Torque Curve.

Buy me a Beer?

Yeah, from the charts I've seen, typically 34's have flatter curves than 23's

But from Dan's sale on Nema 34's, they seem to have cheaper price for torque/dollar compared to his other Nema 23's. Let say 220oz.in Nema23 is the same as 300oz.in Nema34 (around 80 bucks each). Correct me if wrong......

I think Nema34 is disadvantageous in terms of the torque/weight (of the body) compared to its cousin 23. While 23 with 220oz.in torque is more "efficient" than 220oz.in Nema 34...... What do ya think??

Andy
