I posted this in the "General Electronics" forum but this might be a better place for this..... I built a control board (tachus42's board as per http://pminmo.com/3axis/3axis.htm) and everything seemed to be working fine. Today, while testing few things out I noticed that the X axis only turns in one direction... both Y & Z axis turn + & - but the X axis only turns in the + direction. Does anyone know what the problem is? Any help would be appreciated! Edit: FYI I'm using Mach3 to drive the motors. Could this be a software issue (user error...) | I would encourage anyone that has a question on the boards posted on my website to post their questions there in the bulletin board. http://pminmo.com/phpBB2/ I review it multiple times a day. Here I'm lucky to catch such a posting because of the volume of posts on a subjects. As to your specific problem, it's likely a pcb problem (open or short) associated with the following: IC1 pin 1 or 2 IC3 pin 1, 3, 4 , 6, 11 or 13 IC8 pin 5 or 9. You can use the onboard logic probe to see if those pins change state when you change direction. The above aslo assumes you have the software setup correctly.

| PMinMo, Just the person I was looking for . FYI, I just found the forum you mentioned but can't complete activation till this evening (can't log into yahoo at work). I believe the software is setup correctly since the board was working fine couple of days ago but I'll try reinstalling/configuring it again tonight. As I'm a "PCB building Newb" (this is my first 'working' PCB, thanks to your site!) please ignore if this is a stupid question but is there a single component on the board that controls the x-axis direction? Thank you very much |

| No single component, it acutally involves a few more than I mentioned above, but thought that was the logical place to start.
