    Stepper Motor question

So, first off -- i'm what you'd call a CNC noob. got that outa the way... ok, so i just got my Xylotex driver and Xylotex 425oz steppers hooked up and can move them around with mach3 no problem. Then i set mach3 "steps per" to 8000 (using 1/8 step and 1/2" 2 start, 5 turn per inch acme thread -- please correct me if i'm wrong) once i changed the "steps per", my motors basically start to move, then lock up. until i stop the program, or the g-code changes direction...

Firstly, i want to know... is this damaging any of my motors/driver? are my steps per correct? advice how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

You're not damaging anything, and your steps are correct. Try slowing down your accel and velocity. What are they set at?

my motor gets stuck at velocities anything greater than 55in/min. weird thing is that only one motor does this. the other two can go 100+ in/min. Thanks for your reply Gerry

Resonance is a common problem with those motors and the Xylotex. If they are dual shaft motors, here's one solution.

You might find that they work much better on the machine.
