Do a search for stepper drive/driver and breakout board.
Thanks. Never would have thought of that
I'm really looking for someone who can figure out & recommend just what else I need to hook these motors up with. I do not (and cannot) understand all the techno-babble about motion control I find in spades on this forum.
I can send someone one of these motors to work with if they want (or need).
See my post under hot wire machines.
You need a stepper drive to connect the motors to, a DC power supply to power the motors, and software to control the drive. If your PC is running XP or Vista, look at Mach3. If you prefer Linux, look at EMC2. For DOS, TurboCNC.
Depending on your budget, you can go with an inexpensive (but good) drive like the HobbyCNC, or a very good drive like a Gecko, or one of the many, many in between. How many wires does the motor have? 4,6 or 8? The HobbyCNC won't work with 4 wire (bipolar) motors.
As for the power supply, the higher the voltage the better, up to around 20x the motors rated voltage. With a 6V motor, the upper limit will be dictated by the drives max voltage limit.

Six wires. Need specific recommendations on a HobbyCNC drive (will/can one run three motors? Two will be in tandem: one on each end of wire), power supply, and software.
What's a XP or Vista?
I don't understand PCs either!
