Recommendation low voltage [12v] stepper driver??

Been looking for a low voltage stepper driver, specifically for use in motor vehicles, so it needs to run off 12v, and stil be able to crank an appx 500oz motor..
Present temporary solution is a simple DC with gearhead and encoders for rudimentary feedback, but??

Any ideas or possible links?

Is that 500Oz inch at zero speed or running?
If running at what speed?
We have supplied stepper motors to a compnay who use them to change gear, and they were 34 and 42 frame.

it's not the stepper motors that are the problem, there are quite a few in the 500 oz range, mostly in the 34 frame size...
it's finding a driver that will run these from a 12v supply...large amperage ..
