Hi Sanghera,
Me again. If you have 8 wire motors then take a look at this: http://www.xylotex.com/PacSciIB.pdf
By the way, you are using a Xylotex board right?

Hi,
I have bought 3 motors and I haven't found any information on which wire is which so far. They are 8 wire Unipolar Bipolar motors. How can I find out which ones are ground and step and direction? For unipolar what are all of the wire possibilities. Eg. Ground, Step Dir, Step Dir, for one motor?
Thanks.![]()

Hi Sanghera,
I have some wiring diagrams for the Pacsci Powermax II, octagonal case motors motors to the site's gallery. The wiring concept is the same for all 8 wire motors. They may be useful to you.
Bipolar series wiring for pacsci
Bipolar parallel wiring for pacsci
Unipolar wiring for pacsci
The color codes and shield drains relate to the particular wire I use in the cables that I make. Be sure to not be misled by the color of the outputs, just 'follow the lines' to build with your own cable.

Maybe this link could help you, it's a complete tutorial about stepper.

Stepperworld.com also has a simple tutorial that may help:

You can use an Ohm meter to find the center legs and then go from there.
Good Luck
