    Compumotor a83-135 ... amperage

Does any one know the amperage rating for a Parker Compumotor a83-135 stepper?

Depends on how the motor is wired. In series or parallel. 3.47 for series and 6 for parallel. You can check the winding resistance or look at the cable connection to figure out which way it is being used. Normally these are driven with an 6S, 6SX or Zeta4 drive, but seems to me I have seen some data that they will run on a S8 drive near 8amps in parallel for short durations.

Chances are that it is just wired in series internally and they only pulled 4 leads out. I am fairly confident that should still put it at 3.47amps as all of the 83-135 fit the same current spec.

Let's explore the "Common Sense" feature.
What is the effect of low amperage?
What is the effect of high amperage?

Oops, looks like I was wrong after a bit more looking into Parkers web site obsolete products. The A series were high inductance motors and used near 1/2 the current the low inductance S,SX and Zeta series do.

Thanks for compelling me to question my own assumptions!

How do you "look around" on their site?

I can find no way to search their "obsolete equipment" and it would be immensely helpful.

Thanks for the effort and data!

I don't think the obsolete section is included in their search path\results. I've spent most of my compumotor time on the more current and mature class products. It may be a better plan to Google the "A83-135" unless you are used to the Parker format.

I realize that this is an old thread, so if you still need the information on this motor I have a copy of the specs that I can email you.

As a side note if anyone else has any more of the Parker A series Stepper motors I would be interested in buying them or trading for them. I just acquired a few of the A-series drives, but I'm having a horrible time finding the motors.

I have the Parker Compumotor microstepping drive (AHL-Driver) and they need a high inductance stepper motor, over 20mH, and they are just hard to find.

It is also compatible with the following motors.
    AX57-51
    AX57-83
    AX57-102
    AX83-62
    AX83-93
    AX83-135
    AX106-120

I'd also be interested if anyone has found any other High inductance motors.
