    what are these things?

Hi, I bought a bunch of motors on the cheap.

A number of them are GBM 42BYGH045c and 42BYGH130c.
They are quiet small so I guess not useful.

Looks like they came from Jameco but I can't find specs anywhere.

They are 4 wire so obv. bipoller. How can I find out if they are any use.
Can I just start with 0.5a and see when they get to hot or what?

    Look on Google for 42BYG & 42BYGH

I'd start at 24vdc and 0.5A, I'd also make an arm with weights to measure torque.

Nema 17 are not useless, you just have to size the motor. I use a couple on my cnc etch-a-sketch :-)

They are manufactured by GBM, we sell those two motors to a customer in very high numbers, you most likely got them from one of their machines.
We have full datasheets for them if you want them.
PM me and i can get it to you next week when i am back in the office.
