Here's a pdf explaining the stepping sequence for both full and halfstep unipolar and bipolar configurations .
It's about the only usefull information google came up with .
Folks , now that I've discoverd the zone , I spend the entire aftrenoon
on my parents attic loooking for a shoebox filled with steppers I tucked
away 15 years ago . And I found it.
Inside there were 3 little gems ( pitures) I compleately forgot about .
Perfect to build a small router for engraving and pcb drilling / milling .
3phase /30Volt bipolar .
And I have 3 of them![]()

But the downside is that there doesn't seem to be any 3phase driver chips
available .
As usual , every help appreciated .

Check out aanrip's site for the 3 phase stuff.

Interesting site .
Looks like he's on hold though , same problem . No driver chips for the 3phase steppers .
Apparently there aren't any integrated logic chips that can drive 3phase steppers apart form the hitachi HA13532 wich is unobtainable .
So I guess its gonna be back to discrete logic chips if I'm gonna
use these . Or maybe gal's . Boy , that's 20 years ago . Need to do some more digging in my partents attic .

I build the drivers for Aanrips router, which is now mine.
The motors where saved from Konica copiers and we took the drivers and controllers from the original driver board. Because we have more motors then driver chips I searched the net but did not find another solution. I planned to use a microprocessor as controller, but because it is years ago that I programmed uP's and CNC got a lower priority in my doings it did no come to it yet. It is still on my todolist so, If I get the spirit and take the time I will inform you about it on this forum.
Absat.
I'll probably build a driver with some C-mos logic and 3 full bridges like an L298 or similar . Schouldn't be all that hard .
I'll post the results right here if I get it to work . If I ever find the time that is .
