    Question Stepper Motor Power

    Hi

I recently finished a linear translation table using this motor:
    http://www.eminebea.com/content/html...pm42s096.shtml
I tested the motor with a Linistepper configured to give out 0.2 Amps and 36 Volts. However, the motor was not able to move the carriage. I have another Linistepper that I can configure to give more amperage. According to the spec-sheet, the bipolar chopper current/phase is .5A. Does this mean I should configure my other Linistepper for .5A? Or should I go for higher voltage?

    Thank you in advance
    Kyle

I guess what I'm really asking is what is this motors:
    http://www.eminebea.com/content/html...pm42s096.shtml
amperage? According to the table the current/phase is 500mA for a Bipolar Chopper. So should I configure the Linistepper to give the motor 500mA?
As you can see, the spec sheet leaves the box empty for current/phase under Unipolar Constant Voltage.

Now I am terribly confused. It turns out the LiniStepper is a constant current driver, and the eMinebea datasheet is for a constant voltage driver. What is the difference between these?

    Thanks
    Kyle

You can use it on a linistepper (unipolar drive) adjusting the current for 0.266 A (266 mA), and a 36 to 48 volt power supply. Your power transistors are going to get hot, so use a good heatsink with a fan.

    Note: 24 volt/ 90 ohm = 0.266 A.
