    Back EMF and steppers?

I've done a bit of a search, and really didn't find what I was looking for. This may not be in the correct forum, but????

Most drivers give max voltage, but how much EMF should you plan for? If your driver can handle 35VDC what should your max voltage from the power supply be?

Can anyone offer good reading on this topic?

From memory most driver boards rated @ 35V max recommend no more than 30V PSU’s. Giving any accurate figure for BEMF is difficult as it depends on many factors.

See post #2 of this thread Back EMF calculation?

as the old man says, bemf is down to the application.
best bet is get a driver with over voltage protection.

    Great answer!

I thank you for taking the time. Not sure what I did that that link didn't come back on my search.

I must say that it raised even more questions, but that's what learning is all about.

    Thank you again!

    Jim
