Hi all, I'm new to the CNC world. I actually had the idea to build a cnc rotor when I was taking apart old printers for parts. After a lot of work, I'm almost finished the project. I decided to look for such a thing online, and I'm amazed at how popular this is. I wish I had have found cnczone before I started.
I designed and built a small unipolar motor controller with a parallel interface. I did, however, use some really big fets, so it will handle some very large motors without trouble.
None of the salvaged printer stepper motors I have will really adequately drive what I have built. After doing some reading, it would appear that I need 200 oz.in or larger motors. I would also like to find 8-wire motors, so that it would be easy to re-design my controller for bi-polar, microstepping, and all the other fine points that I've missed out on (at a later date).
Sorry for being so long winded, but just thought I'd be semi-descriptive so that someone will tell me if I don't have the right general idea here. Looking for a decent priced source for 3 x 8-wire 200+ oz-in stepper motors (I think).
