    motor size?

    im using a HT23-400
Description: Stepper Motors 264.0 (oz-in)Torque DOUBLE SHAFT
what is the max rpm for this motor how do u calculate it, I plan to use rack and pinion for it with a gear box gearing down maybe 6:1 or 10:1 not sure yet..
not sure if 264 oz -in with gear box can travel and handle the load of 5x10 table

You can't really know without calculating all the parameters of your table and looking at the torque curves for your motor. Some of the motor manufacturers have programs that input all the table parameters, and calculate the required motor.

Anyway, 264 oz-in sounds awfully small for a 5x10 table. Most tables that size either use servos or much larger steppers. Unless you get really high speeds, it will take forever to move from one end to the other.
