US Digital MD1 Controller

Hello everyone
I'm very new to this whole thing and have been trying to get a small (23) stepper working here on the desktop
I've got a 8 wire stepper hooked in parallel on the coils and I've hooked into a US digital MD1 controller.
The controller is actually hooked to a BS2 for signals
There are only Dir and Step inputs
I've tried setting the Dir to 0 and to +5 while feeding pulses to the Step input of various lengths with virtually no results. The motor makes small noises and every once in awhile jumps ahead or back but it's pretty random
any ideas?

Yes

8 wires = 4 coils and sounds like your wires are out of order.
to move a motor dir only needs to be low to move oneway and high to move other way.
and to step, a low to high on the step input.
post your stepper motor make & model and someone may know the wiring order.

It's also a US Digital product (or at least label)
MS23, (not the MS23C)
8 wires
currently hooked up as:
red/white as A
black/yellow as A com
Green/Brown as B
Blue/Orange as B com
