    Hi All,

You need a 5 phase driver for that motor. It has 5 seperate motor coils in it and needs a driver that energizes each one in the correct sequence. All of the stuff generally used for these hobby systems are two phase drivers. That is a little more expensive type of drive. You could probably find one on eBay, but I dont know if it would take step & direction commands. Go to Vexta's website and look at thier 5 phase system spec's. I think they are more commonly used for rapid start and stop applications at high speeds where higher torque at higher speed is required. I have a three phase motor and I am in the same boat. Most 3 phase drivers are much more money than the 2 phase type, and hard to find.

I just looked at thier website, you can read all about it:

I would shelf it or try eBay, unless you got 2-300 bucks, then call up Oriental and see what they would reccomend.

Halfnutz is right about the 5-phase drivers. The electronics for the driver are more complicated and expensive. Your best bet is Ebay.

As for 3-phase drivers, the reason they are expensive must be based on sales volumes. The electronics for a 3-phase driver are actually simpler and should be less expensive than the standard 2/4 phase drives.
