Hi, I've just wired up a motor in series bipolar and the spec sheet says: Series Current/Phase: 2.1 amps I have a bipolar chopper driver board that has a series of DIP switches for the current and the settings are displayed as Peek and RMS current. Should I select a "Peak" ampage on the driver board that is slightly lower or lower than the motor is rated? or do I use the RMS figure? Sorry if this is a bit basic.... |

| I would say peak. If you use RMS, the peak will be higher than the rating on the motor, and will possibly drive it into saturation. There was a thread on here discussing a drive that specified both peak and RMS values, and the general consensus was to set the peak current to the current specified by the motor manufacturer. |
