Pulse width for optoisolated breakout board?

I just finished an optoisolated breakout board using (pc817 optocoupler), and while testing out by Turbocnc, the motors were not stepping but jerking. After resetting the pulse width from 10us to 100us, the motors started stepping smoothly. Does this mean by using optoisolated board, the motor won't step as fast?

    Possibly,
The optocouplers speed up with both drive current and load (current). Also depends on which version of the 817 you are using.
Phil, Still too many interests, too many projects, and not enough time!!!!!!!!

toolbox911.....well that kinda depends on what the width the step pulse is.....if you have a 200 step per revolution stepper and you wish to turn it at 1000 Revolutions per minute.....that would be 200,000 step per minute which when you divide it by 60 you get 3333.33 steps per second, which is your frequency and if you take the inverse of the frequency you get the pulse width (time)....which is 300 microseconds......so, does it make a difference.....hmmmmm....maybe.....and maybe not......there are set-up times and propagation delays through the logic.....and depending on which edge stuff is triggered on....you really need to look at the whole system to answer your question....simple question....complicated answer.
