The board was incompetently designed. You likely need to bypass the optocouplers before it will work.
Try setting the step pulse width to 5uS.
Okay. so i built a cnc machine this winter, and i ordered the classic 4 axis ebay motor and driver kit (before i had seen this site)
and all my pin out info is right, but i just can not get my motors to turn more than once every few seconds! they are very loud when they do so, and the machine thinks its moving at light speed when its really not!
i would really like some help with this, i have invested a massive amount of time into this thing, and i would hate to see it go to waste over a setting issue!
if i set the motors at velocity: 40 acell: 10 they do not move, i have to set them at the highest of each to make them move!
but the motors turn just fine with my little manila control thing, so it must me a setting.
my two concerned are the DIP setting on the board, i really don't know how to use them, as well as the step pulse and the direct pulse setting fro each motor confuse me.
i am hoping someone here can help me his this issue!

how do i bypass the octocouplers?
also, if i was to replace the controller..
What would be another option that will not make me pull my hair out but also not cost 400 dollars?
thanks, Max
At $240, the Gecko G540 is a no brainer.

You can use it with your existing motors and power supply, and it'll let you upgrade to more powerful components as well.

hi again!
Okay i got the gecko, and with the xml file loaded it works flawlessly!
but, i bought cam bam, i love the program, making tool paths is great, but when i open the g code into mach, all of my distance values are screwed up!
basically, the g code says to move 1 inch, and it moves 30! and if i to to calibrate the steps per unit, it has the same problem, i try to move 1 inch and i run out of space on my 30 inch y axis! this problem pertains even when i close the g code and click reset.
it only acts normally if i re-open mach3....!
i am stumped, i have tried changing the post processor in cambam but no luck!
have you ever heard of this problem?
thanks, Max
In Mach3, what is the Native Units set to?

Try giving it a G20 command before issuing a directional command and see if it works any differently.

Can you post some sample g-code that's the wrong size, and your Mach3 .xml file?

Yes I can. But it is not the XML that's the problem. Because it works with lazy cam. I'll post g code later tonight
