Can you tell us what motors are in the machine? At least
    - how many wires to each motor
    - what size (diameter) or NEMA number
    - part number, amps, and/or volts would be great, but if you can't find that, use one of the methods at:
techref.massmind.org/techref/io/stepper/wires.htm to find the wiring of the motors and then measure the resistance on one of the coils.

With that information, we can recommend a suitable driver card and break out board. Whatever you do, please don't just rush off and buy some cheap chinese crap that promises to drive anything anytime anywhere for next to nothing = too good to be true? I'm just seeing so much of that these days...

sigma , they are sigma motors,,since asking my question about the cabinets both my X and Z have over run limit switches and no longer work although i have moved the X and Z to safety by hand ,on the rear cabinet door are 3 drive cards and something else above are 4 power transistors now removed and on my desk ,removel made no difference unlike removing the card in front of the Y drive card ,have removed all the cards in the XDI and ERS rack ..i am now going to swap the terminals over at the Z Y X block at the bottom of the rear cabinet so the Y thinks its X ,,if X moves then some of the transistors on the card in front of the Y driver are blown ,i ofcourse will then swap the terminals back ..i also have to replace the limit switches ,they are sticky..
I know i know but a got the bridgeport series 1 tape reader 6 years ago ,i got into the workshop (along with spark eroda ) whent to tell the wife all was ok , had a heart attack
then another ,and another ended up with a quadrouple bypass then my wife died ,i got married again some time later ,caught a virus that knocked out the eletrics of my heart ,ended up with a pacemaker ICD ,,and now i want to get my machines running ,oh yeh throughout all off it appart from hospital time i havent missed a days work not one ,satdays and sundays not a day off..
so if its possible please non jargen explinations as to what might be going on ,any names for boards etc..what do the transformers look like ..i know the drive cards work by swap them around ,,i was hoping that at least once the Y wouldnt move ,but it did on all three cards ,,,i just cant get a handle on it , jog the Y all day y to -Y back again ,jog the X and Z just buzzes ,when i look at the drive belt on X under the cover plate its like its looking for a position (dont know ),,,,,there we are ,the good news for the bridgeport is that the spark eroda is even worse, got only knows what the Demag 60 tonne injection moulder has in store ...#
