I'm considering upgrading my machine, an automated lathe, to these drives and steppers so I can have a closed loop system. - Drive- Stepper motor positioning control - SMCI33 - Nanotec Steppers- Stepper motors protection class - AS5918 - M12 - Nanotec Has anybody any experience with nanotec stuff good or bad? Would be interested to hear any opinons. Cheers |

| No personal experience, but... $129 per axis? And USB or serial via a proprietary ASCII command set so you are locked into their software? How is Mach 3 or EMC2 or whatever going to command that? It's closed loop, which is nice but all that means is that you know if it misses a step sooner... and a well designed system shouldn't ever miss a step so... I've never really seen the point in closed loop. I'm probably missing some major point here but I don't think that is a good fit. |
