stepper motors mounted together?

Trying to keep my CNC table design compact, I was going to mount 2 steppers beside each other. Not touching but close together, say 10 - 20mm apart. Would this be OK or is there any valid reason not to?

Would any interference occur? ie could the magnetic pulses from one affect the other?

Magnetic fields decrease to the square of the distance (if I remember) and the coils and fields inside are very, very close, and the motor case is an effective shield. It shouldn't matter.

Heat is more likely to be an issue, but with a gap, you can always put a fan on it.

I did consider the heat but don't think it will be an issue. Happy to try and see, and as you say if necessary, use a heatsink & fan

Nice looking design Scott. I wanted mine as close together as yours initially but was concerned, hence the post. Now that I know it's not an issue, I can go back to the original design.
