I have been reading through several threads, and a few different websites. I am uncertain, now, of my approach in specs for a motor.
The application that the motors will be used require a max spped of 360 RPM, and will run considerably at lower speeds. The torque needed at holding, and at 360RPM is 120 to 160 oz-in.
Where I beacame lost was reading that stepper motors run most efficiently above the drob off point... Most every motor that I have lloked at will be well under the drop off RPM.
So, my questions are as follows:
Will it be beneficial to run a timing set-up to reduce the speed?
How to determine whether to use a Bipolar or Unipolar motor... I am planning on using Gecko drives, and would like to experiment with the G540, but will use a different unit, if needed.
Does a stepper need bearing support on the output if a timing pulley is installed?
What is the typical side loading/tension for timing belts?
Do GT2 belts and pulleys provide relatively good accuracy?
Thanks... I know there is a thread for some basics, so I hope it is OK to post here.
