I think my step motor cause skip/intermitten skip step. I check other but can not find it. if I try using dial meter, back and forth X axis, it's very accurate/no problem. but when I cut something, it'snot accurate, Just this X axis only. how to test my motor is not weak or problem/intermitten ? I just cut Wood/router. appriciate your help. Regards Cal |

| Hello I have the same problem with my machine when i cut a piece of work with many passes it skip or miss steps the final result in 3D work is like this picture my motors is very small I toke it from old printers but it work very good I thought to put to motors on one axis to work in parallel leading the belt moving the axis I wish it work what are your opinions about this Idea thanks for attention |

| TAREQ, that is not a weak motor, your stepper missed some steps. That means you are trying to drive it a little too fast or you have the acceleration set for a value that is too fast. Why is this happening now and not last week / month / year? There may be many reasons, but my first suspicion would be that your guide rails are dirtier than they were before this problem appeared. Reduce your speed along the X and Y axes by 10% and you should be fine. Calico, if a photo of your hardware would have shown something like this, your problem may be the same thing. |

| It it misses steps under load, while cutting, and not while under no load, then the extra load of the cutting head is probably causing the missed steps. You may also be cutting at a different speed than you traverse, and if you are having midband resonance issues, that may make missed steps more likely at the cutting speed. I would try lowering the speed as suggested, then adding a resonance damper or moving to a smoother / stronger stepper motor driver. |
