Hi I'm building a control box and have connected the common wire for the driver power supply, to the metal casing. Terminal 1 (common) of my drive (Centent CN0162) is in contact with the metal casing, through the baseplate of the drive. There is no measureable resistans between the casing and the terminal. Is it necessary to draw a wire to the terminal, when it is already in contact with the casing? Thanks, Brian |

| Not quite sure of what you have, but the general rule is even if the common is connected to Ground, ground should not be used as a conductor. IOW, commons should always be run separate to ground, even though they may be at the same potential. Al.

| In your main enclosure it pays to set up a common ground plate where the service ground and all the bonding conductors to motor frames etc are connected, including cable shields. Al.

| In front of the terminals of the drives, I will mount a DIN rail all along the casing. The stepper cables shields will then be attached to this rail, along with all other shields and grounds. This should do the job. Brian |
