| Hi guys, newbie here again. Not sure I should ask this question here, but here it goes.... Started building a desktop cnc router. I bought the cnc kit for this project. But the motors seem to be a little too big and too heavy for my project. finished the x axis and tried it...a little bumpy, but it works. Considering that I never touched one before (The new one is still sitting there), that was a big accomplishment for me. Then on to the 'y' axis. Just finished it today but found a printer stepper I couldn't help to try on this. since it is also a 4-wire, I figure, worse case scenario, I'll burn the motor or the break out board. Mounted it...smooth as baby's butt. I should prob lower the 30v on the power supply, but I was happy as hell that my machine did something (I call it "Frankie"). Now, I did not find any more steppers similar to that one with 4 wiresfor the z, but found one with 6 wires. I read somewhere the 6 wires are bipolar but can work as unipolar. Is this possible? Can I just not hook the 2 white wires to the driver without frying something? Thanks in advance gents (and ladies). |
