Hello, I am currently retrofitting my AGIE 315 EDM Wirecut machine. It has two big stepper motors that have a D-9 connector on it. It moves the X and Y table which is heavy. The two stepper motors are fan cooled. Meaning there is a big blower tube located beside the stepper motor that cools the motor. Here is the diagram of the stepper board driver. I dare not post it in the forum since the size is pretty huge and making it any smaller might make the labels and wires unidentifiable. http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4278/diagram001.jpg (Try opening in a new tab or window for better viewing then use ctrl+scroll key to zoom in and out. It might take a while to load) Now comes the problem.. I am not familiar with 9 pin stepper motors. It has 2,000 steps and the stepper board supply is 60V. I have included some pics for reference purposes. It is somewhat similar to NEMA34 in terms of size. The stepper board seems to look fresh but I have no idea how to utilize this to hook it up on a LPT1 port since this stepper board is designed for the machine (machine cabinets are infested = unusable). Any advice would be appreciated. My best guess is that this is a special unipolar motor with 8 coils/phases. I dont quite understand the sequence. It says ABCD and then /A /B /C /D and has 1 common. It does 0.18 deg per step in full step. I have checked and browsed/searched through many ebay and cnc sites, electronics sites and none of them provide any stepper board driver that is suitable for my stepper motor. I have also tried to read stuff about stepper motors and this type of stepper motor doesn't seem to fit in any of them described. How do I go about this? Does anybody know what stepper board driver I can use for this stepper motor? Or does somebody know how I can use the old stepper driver board? The service manual doesn't tell much. I want to control the stepper motors using my LPT port. Thanks Franz |

| Sorry the diagram was too big so I can't load it. It does sound the like 8 coils arranged as 4 pairs. It should be easy enough, just hook the 8 wires up to the 4 terminals of the driver, keeping the wires in the same 4 pairs that they were ont he original driver. |
