    http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co....&products_id=6

    Hi,

Don’t worry about your English its fine.

As for the steppers I have 4 of the FL60STH86STH and am happy with them.

Which of the FL57STH76-xxxxx motors were you thinking of?

Have you got the drives to power the stepper motor and if yes are they suitable for the stepper motors linked to?

Have you calculated the power you will need to drive your machine?

    John

    That's good news

    I'm not quite sure yet,but I'm think on the FL60STH86STH or FL57STH76-2808B.

About the drivers, I was thinking to build them my self to save some money... I saw some drivers that seem to be quite good and not very expensive(compared to the ones selled in http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co.uk)

Well, I have not calculated the torque I need to run my machine(I dont know how), but I think the 3Nm (425 Oz-in) of the FL60STH86STH will be enough, as I just want to cut foam.

I have them driving a mill to cut steel; it is not always a good idea to have larger stepper motors than you needs. They may give poor performance compared to a more suitable smaller motor.

If you go with the FL57STH76-2808B you will very likely need 4Amps/phase drives to run them bipolar parallel to give higher feed speeds. Do you have a link to your drives and is your machine built?

Try to figure out how much torque you will need before choosing the stepper motors as it can/will make a big difference to how your machine will perform.

    Hi!

I was thinking on building one of the drivers listed here:

    http://pminmo.com/

About my machine, it's about 50% built. The X and Y axis are built, and the Z axis is about 90%. One mechanical thing that is still missing is the threaded rods and it's mountings to move each of the axis.

How can I now what is the torque needed so I can choose the motors?

    You have three choices:

1, Post pictures of your machine and give the necessary information to get the help you need from the knowledgeable members of this site. Help is not always forth coming because the question is asked so often.

2, Look for a machine here that is similar to the one you are building and see what they are using. If necessary ask question about how their machine performs with their setup and work out if you need more/less power than they have. This will get you close enough for a DIY build.

3, Do the calculations necessary to workout what you need for your machine. This is quite complicated as there are a lot of variables to take into account. To get you started with this method here is a link to a thread that I found very helpful. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31815

    Good luck,

    John
