    Default Calculate steps/mm

I really need some help. I might have been able to figure this if I didn't have to go back and forth between metric and imperial measures.
    I am trying to figure:
steps per mm = steps per rev * microsteps / mm per rev

My motor is nema 23 and 200 full steps per rev
    I have a cnc=shield with jumpers set to 1/32 (I think) M0, M1 and M2 are high
    Leadscrew is 5/16 -18

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

its better to think through the logic than remember a formula.
    1 revolution takes 200 * 32 steps = 6400 steps/rev
    1 inch movement takes 18 revolutions = 18 * 6400 = 115200 steps/inch
    1 inch = 25.4 mm so 1 mm = 115200/25.4 = 4535.433 steps per mm

I've just been wondering if I might have an easier time with cnc'ing if I quit trying to do a little bit in Imperial and a little in metric. Maybe If I just concentrated on metric it would keep the water a little less muddy. The tough part is just trying to visualize a millimeter.

I know how you feel having worked in imperial for past 70 + years I don't think metric I convert metric to imperial to visualize.
You can set your CNC up in imperial and to machine metric just put a G21 code at the start and your machine will do the conversions. Just remember 100"/min = 2500 mm/min
The more you work with metric the easier it gets.
