Default How can I add a micro stepping unit?

I bought a very small stepper motor with a controller from ebay, but when I regulate the speed down, it became very jerky. So I now need to know if there are any ways to make microstepping by adding a small electronic circuit.

Are ther anybody here who can help me?

Can you provide a link to what you bought?

stepper motor is not good, try high torque hybrid servo or servo motor

Those round tin-can steppers are OK for turning a flag around. They are no use for a CNC.

Yes I know, but I need it in order to operate a toy that I want to make with my cnc machiines. Off course I use Nema motors for my cnc´s...

Do you have a link to an affordable solution for that? They don´t need to be high torque..

I think you need to buy a microstepping drive.

Like this TB6600 Single Axis 4A Stepper Motor Driver Controller 9~40V Micro-Step Module | eBay

and a pulse generator something like this

5V 10A Stepper motor driver controller Speed Regulator Pulse Signal Generator | eBay

    or like this

1PCS Stepper Motor Driving Controller Pulse PWM Speed Reversing Control NEW | eBay

I'm pretty sure that the above pieces would work with your motor, you would only have to set the maximum current correctly on the driver.

OK, given the application I don't think my solution above will work. It is possible that the U1 chip on the board that you have is programmable for micro stepping. You should do a bit of research on that part number and see what it will do. A PIC micro computer might be capable of doing it also.

The number at the chip is: 1632A AT89C2051-24PU

Yes, that chip is a microcontroller and is programmable. There is proabaly a programmer unit available for them, but I can't help you there.

A PIC or anything similar, with some FETS, would be fine. You may be able to find the SW and circuit on the web.

You could use an arduino. Try sparkfun or adafriut. There are many tutorials available

I have seen that somebody use arduino, but I don´t know how to use it. Are there any good site that explain this on the web? And can I use this device by adding it to the remote control board I already have?
