Default sla7033 stepper motor driver (unipolar driver?)

Hello guys and sorry for my total newbiness.

I have just salvaged some stepper motors and their drivers. From my past experience, I drove the motors using a driver that had as logical inputs step, direction and enable. Those drivers that I salvaged(SLA7033) got 4 logical inputs, such as IN a, IN A, IN b, IN B.
Here is a link with drivers datasheet http://www.allegromicro.com/~/media/...eet.ashx?la=en..

Can someone tell me if it's possible to command this driver with step, direction and enable signals?

    Regards,
    Emanuel G

you need to add a circuit to translate the step and direction signals into 4 signals to drive the SLA7033

for full step a dual D-type flipflop would do with a couple of XOR gates to control the direction of count

    for example see -
Stepper Motor Controller Circuit - Gadgetronicx
(just connect the four flipflop output to the Allegro MicroSystems inputs)

    alternatively

    try this

I have an idea that some early stepper circuits had 1 IC counter / translator and 1 chopper output IC but I can't remember at the moment

    PS

its the L297 + L298 from SGS - Thomson I was thinking of

have a look to see if Sanken / Allegro MicroSystems make a version of the L297 to drive the SLA7033
