Default An affordable and working driver up to 5A please

    Hello,
could someone please suggest me a driver that is capable of delivering 5A and it is under 15$, other than the usual TB6600 crap, because I got one and it underpreforms heavily. Thank you!!

The TB6600 isn't that bad of a driver if you pair it with a very low inductance stepper motor. I have one that I bench tested with a low inductance 300oz-in stepper. It actually performs similar to a gecko using a 24volt power supply. That kinda surprised me no detectable resonance and I was able to spin it up over 1000rpm.

This driver certainly has potential but the stepper motors you have may not be a good match for them. Likely high inductance type.

I was not thinking about the driver itself, but about those boards you can buy on eBay that have 6600 in them. By the way the motor I am trying to run has about 3mH inductance at 1KHz which I think is low enough.

The board I tested was just a single drive board bought off eBay for $10. I think they are pretty much all the same. 1.2mh is the motor inductance I used. 3mh is kinda high in my opinion. I always try to buy steppers that are around 2mh.

5 amps under $15? You don't ask for much! LOL... I can get you 4 amps, continuous (and I've tested them to 5 amps peak) at 50 volts, for $32... in quantities of 3... as a KIT... but I honestly don't think you can beat that.

Seriously... there is nothing out there that is going to actually drive 5 amps at anything like 50 volts for that sort of price. not in reality anyway. Keep in mind, the nice thing about a kit is that since you put it together, you can repair it if you do fry a chip, the repair cost is only $10.

I have one of James TB6064 drivers. It works very well.
