    Alternitive to steam?

Hi, I want to build a model of a case steam traction engine. but don't know about the steam part. Does any now of a good alternitive to steam? I thought compressed air but were would I get that much air at. And a 5 Hp gas engine would be easy to do but a little noisy. Any thoughts.
    Thanks

You could use CO2, instead of steam.

I heard that you could use water, then you don't have to look around for somebody with a tank of steam to take home
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

    New business idea: canned steam!!

Directions, Heat to 100C and then open carefully!

I know steam can be dangerous, but it is easy to produce.

Maybe you can figure out a way to make it run on hot air (not mine)? For demonstration purposes, this might be enough to make the thing turn over? Wait a minute, what if a guy put some flammable gas in the chamber and lit it on fire? Oh, that's silly, that would require some kind of "sparking screw in plug". Forget that

Maybe you could come up with a way to use "used coolant" then you would have some lubricating also on the internal parts and solve the used coolant situation.

Steam is the only way to go. don't use diesel fuel or propane for firing the boiler either.... good welsh steam coal burns well with minimal ash and hardly any clinkers, plus, it smells great. The sound of a good running steam engine is very cool.
I 2 1/2 inch scale Case is pretty big and will really bark when put under load. Unless you have a pretty good size set of machines, A 1 1/2 inch scale model is a good size and will pull a trailer with the driver.
